Clayfulness Playgroups

Clayfulness playgroups are designed to enhance young children’s sensorimotor skills and creativity through integrating elements of Clay Field Therapy®, expressive art, and symbolic play therapy.

In Clayfulness sessions, we engage with the clay in a free-forming style, without the use of the pottery wheel. Each session begins with a 'warm-up' activity, encouraging children to let their hands freely explore and interact with the clay without the intention of creating anything specific. This is followed by a creative sculpting activity, shaping the clay into various objects and figurines. The session concludes with symbolic play, where children use not only clay but also incorporate natural materials (e.g., rocks, leaves, twigs, shells, etc.) to create their imaginative worlds.

To maximize the therapeutic benefits of these sessions, groups are intentionally kept small to ensure that each child receives individual attention and personalized support.

Playgroups are led by Bettina Stevanovic, drawing on her expertise in psychology (PhD) and recent training in Clay Field Therapy® and Sensorimotor Art Therapy.
